Fall Flowers

Posted in Bodacious Bouquet, Designer Paper, Techniques at 9:49 am by madebyme79

For those who left comments on my ‘Workshop’ post, your bookmarks are on their way.

I love this DSP, OK, I love pretty much all of SU’s DSP – I quite like this years price as well. lol.  SU dsp makes it easy to pull colours together, it’s that whole co-ordination thing again.  The card I made is cased from some talented person on Splitcoast but sorry I can’t remember who.  It’s one of those cards saved to my desk top – which I think has doubled in quantity since my last post.  (Ok I’ve just checked and I’m up to 81 cards on my desktop).

I just switch colours to match the DSP and kept everything else including using the rock & roll technique for the flowers.

Bodacious Bouquet 06

Stamps – Bodacious Bouquet

Ink – Groovy Guava, Really Rust

Cardstock – Sahara Sand, Really Rust, Whisper White

DSP – Fall Flowers

Accessories – White Grosgrain, Vintage Brads, Mat Pack, Dimensionals.

The Rock & Roll Technique is super simple.  And a great way to achieve two tones on your stamped images.

First, ink your stamp which a light colour (for this card that was Groovy Guava)

Second, roll the edge of the stamp in the darker ink (Really Rust)

Stamp your image – make sure you clean your stamp before re-inking for the next image, and always ink with the lighter colour first, otherwise you’ll ruin your ink pad.

Cracked Glass

Posted in Canvas (BG), Lovely As A Tree, Masculine Cards, Natural Beauty, Techniques at 9:40 am by madebyme79

I’m loving this set at the moment and today had a go for the first time at the Cracked Glass technique.

Lovely As A Tree 02a WM

For those who haven’t tried it before it’s super easy.  Stamp and colour your image as normal.  Cover the whole image with versamark, then clear EP, heat.  Repeat this 5-6 times then put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes (this makes it easier to crack).  Once image is cold bend until it starts to crack.  Sponge over with darker ink to make the cracks stand out.

Faux Metal

Posted in Greetings Galore, Techniques at 9:35 am by madebyme79

This has to be one of my favourite techniques using embossing powder and since I finally got my heat gun I’ve been able to give it a go. It’s a little hard trying to do this over the toaster! And once again I’ve used my good ol’ Greetings Galore tree, it’s great how versatile these stamps are! This technique is great for making charms and ‘dog-tags’, and I love being able to make my own to suit my cards and scrapbook pages and it saves me money at the same time! Follow the link to Splitcoast on how to do this technique – http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/fauxmetal.php

Another Christmas Card…

Posted in Bold Snowflakes, Techniques at 3:12 am by madebyme79

This card was using the same stamp – the jumbo wheel and bold snowflakes. It’s great as a feature and as a background.
This time I inked the stamp first in Versamark, then bravo burgundy, rolled it onto glossy white cardstock. Then embossed the image with half & half clear embossing powder and dazzling diamonds.

Tip – always ink first with Versamark before a coloured ink or you will ruin your Versamark.

This Thursday were having regional training in Palmerston North so I’m looking foward to bringing back lots of new ideas and maybe a new pair of shoes!!
